City of Palm Coast Urges Preparations as Tropical Storm Idalia Approaches
Palm Coast – As Tropical Storm Idalia approaches, the City of Palm Coast is urging all residents to complete their preparations before the storm makes landfall.
Palm Coast residents can expect to feel the impacts of Tropical Storm Idalia starting late Tuesday/early Wednesday, with tropical storm-force winds possible.
Residents should try to have the following completed by the end of the day on Tuesday:
- Porches and patios cleared of items that can become airborne.
- Food, fuel, water, medication, pet supplies, critical papers, and family comfort supplies to last 5-7 days.
The City of Palm Coast will be supporting a sandbag operation at:
- The Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast
- Monday, August 28 – until 3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 29 – 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Flagler County and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will be supporting sandbag stations at:
- Hidden Trails Community Center, 6108 Mahogany Boulevard, Bunnell
- Monday, August 28 – 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 29 – 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Bay Drive Park, 30 Bay Drive, Palm Coast (The Hammock)
- Monday, August 28 – 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 29 – 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Starting Tuesday, August 29, at 7 a.m., the City of Palm Coast Customer Service line will be available 24 hours a day until the storm subsides. It’s important to note that their assistance is limited to city-related matters. For medical emergencies, please call 9-1-1. You can reach Customer Service at 386-986-2360; alternatively, residents can submit a case through Palm Coast Connect.
Additionally, yard debris and recycling collection services have been canceled for Wednesday, August 30. Garbage collection services will resume according to the regular schedule on Thursday, August 31.
In the event of a power outage, if your residence uses a PEP tank system for wastewater, conserve water as much as possible. Water usage during these times could risk waste backing up into homes. Throughout the storm, the City of Palm Coast will be providing residents with the most up-to-date information available through various means, including:
- PalmCoast.gov – PalmCoast.gov will go into Emergency Mode for the duration of the storm once a local emergency declaration is signed. This will provide residents with information on Emergency Preparedness, sandbag locations, potential shelter locations, trash schedules, PEP tank information, easy access to Palm Coast Connect, and more.
- Palm Coast Connect – Palm Coast Connect will be the hub for all City responses during the storm. If you do not already have a Palm Coast Connect account, please take a few minutes to visit palmcoast.gov/Connect or call 386-986-2360 and create a free account now.
- ALERTFlagler – ALERTFlagler is a FREE service that will allow you to receive critical information quickly in various emergencies, including severe weather alerts. Creating an account is easy and can be done by visiting flaglercounty.gov/alertflagler.
- Social Media – Your City is ready and able to communicate with you across many social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Nextdoor, and Twitter. We encourage you to connect with us on those platforms now, so you have access to updates during the storm.
