Daniel Owen Conahan Jr. was put to death by lethal injection Thursday at Florida State Prison for the 1996 strangulation of 21-year-old Richard Allen Montgomery in Charlotte County. Conahan is the 15th inmate killed this year by the state after a modern-era record 19 in 2025. It is the 43rd execution on Gov. Ron DeSantis’s watch.
