Palm Coast Man Faces Additional Fentanyl Trafficking Charge After Lab Results

A Palm Coast man arrested in July on narcotics charges now faces additional charges including fentanyl trafficking following lab test results and continued investigation.

Ryan McArthur, 37, was initially arrested on July 1 when the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics-related search warrant at his residence. On November 10, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit obtained a new arrest warrant charging him with trafficking in fentanyl (over 28 grams) and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

The additional charges stem from a controlled narcotics purchase that took place during a five-month investigation leading up to the July search warrant and arrest. Authorities waited for lab test results from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement before filing the new charges.

The arrest warrant was served at the Volusia County Branch Jail, where McArthur is currently held without bond.

“Thanks to a thorough investigation by our SIU team and prosecution by State Attorney R. J. Larizza’s office, this poison peddler should go to prison for a very long time,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you’re a poison peddler, I suggest you get the hell out of Flagler County because we are coming for you next to send you away to prison for a very long time.”

The trafficking in fentanyl charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine upon conviction.

The case was prosecuted in collaboration with the 7th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
