Substitute Untrained in Control Techniques by District Arrested for Kicking Special Ed Student at Matanzas

Bryan Schewitz, a 60-year-old substitute teacher who was on assignment at Matanzas High School last week, was arrested on a felony child abuse charge after telling a special education child that “the gloves are off” and admitting to kicking the child to get even with him. The district appears not to be entirely innocent: it had placed a substitute teacher with special education students despite his lack of training in certain techniques.
