Drivers heading south on Interstate 95 should plan for detours later this month. Flagler County officials say the Florida Department of Transportation will close the southbound I-95 off-ramp to U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach overnight on several dates starting next week.
According to a news release from the county, the closures will run overnight from Tuesday, July 14, through July 16, and again starting July 19 through the morning of Tuesday, July 21.
Detour Route
Drivers heading south on I-95 who want to reach U.S. 1 during the closures should take Exit 278 for Old Dixie Highway and continue west for about 2.3 miles. At the roundabout, drivers should take the third exit to reach southbound U.S. 1, then travel south on U.S. 1 for about 6.3 miles to reach the I-95 interchange.
FDOT said detour signs will be posted along the route. The agency noted that the work schedule could change due to weather or other conditions, and it asked drivers to maintain a safe speed and avoid distractions while driving through the area.
