Already in Federal Prison, Daytona Beach Man Now Faces New Charge After Exposing Himself to 15-Year-Old at Palm Coast Gym

A Daytona Beach man already serving a federal prison sentence has been charged with a new crime after a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office investigation determined he exposed himself to a 15-year-old boy and attempted to enter the teen’s shower stall at a Palm Coast gym.

Craig Stevens Jr., 34, was served with an arrest warrant for one count of lewd or lascivious exhibition involving an offender 18 or older and a victim younger than 16. He remains in federal custody.

What Surveillance Video Showed

The incident occurred on February 25, 2026, at the Planet Fitness on State Road 100 in Palm Coast. Deputies responded after gym staff reported a possible sex offense in the men’s locker room.

Surveillance footage showed Stevens entered the gym at 6:59 a.m. using a membership belonging to a family member and went directly to the men’s locker room. Once inside, he entered a shower stall completely unclothed and left the curtain open.

The 15-year-old victim entered the locker room, noticed Stevens in the open-curtain shower with his genitals exposed, and walked away without interacting. Feeling uncomfortable, the teen kept his clothes on and entered a separate shower stall, fully closing the curtain for privacy.

Stevens then walked to the teen’s stall and pulled the curtain open, exposing himself again. The teen immediately said, “No!”

Stevens paused, then turned back toward the teen and said, “I thought you said I join you?” The teen again said “No!” Stevens then got dressed and left the gym. Surveillance showed Stevens was in the locker room for a total of 27 minutes.

Investigation and Arrest Warrant

Detectives conducted a photo lineup with the teen, who identified Stevens with absolute confidence. When investigators later interviewed Stevens, he denied any involvement and gave accounts that surveillance footage and the investigation directly contradicted.

After a review by the State Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained the arrest warrant. The warrant was served on Stevens at the federal facility where he is currently being held.

“This behavior is predatory, disgusting and illegal, and perverts like this only increase their aggressiveness,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I commend the teen victim for the way he handled this perverted encounter and immediately reporting it. He likely protected others from becoming victims of this predator.”

Current Federal Sentence and Prior Criminal History

Stevens is currently serving a four-year, six-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy and aggravated identity theft in the Middle District of Florida. Federal prosecutors said Stevens used an elderly victim’s personal information and shared it with co-defendants, who accessed the victim’s bank accounts and applied for credit cards and loans. The scheme resulted in the theft of $19,762.38.

His prior criminal history also includes felony convictions for burglary of a dwelling and possession of stolen property, along with misdemeanor convictions for petit larceny, shoplifting, and trespassing.
