As Athens Theatre starts a GoFundMe to help all of the impacted organizations, 19 former Volusia County Council members call on current elected officials to revisit their decision.

The students, ranging from 3rd to 8th grade, had gone to Washington, D.C. to tour the Capitol Building the day the government shut down on Oct. 1.

Other recommendations include mitigation barriers to slow vehicles down on campuses and evaluating camera coverage and technology, radio communications and emergency response training.

The proceeds will benefit Care Cupboard Food Pantry in Bunnell. ‘We wanted to be able to help people across our region,’ Motto Mortgage’s Jayda Capela said.

The City Commission voted to award Jackson a 7.5% salary increase, in addition to a 2.5% cost of living adjustment.
