For over a year, the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber has been communicating the importance of improved cell phone reception in conversations with Palm Coast city leaders. The Palm Coast City Council took action on July 18, 2023, by approving a change that would allow AT&T to “co-locate” on the tower that already exists at Belle Terre Park. T-Mobile is currently the only cell provider on that tower.
During the previous week’s workshop, Palm Coast city staff recommended changes to the tower agreement at Belle Terre Park, which previously featured a burdensome process that discouraged multiple carriers locating on the same cell phone tower (aka “co-locate”).
The Chamber applauds both the Palm Coast City Council and city staff for identifying ways to reduce burdensome regulations that will improve our local cell phone reception.
Earlier this year, the Chamber spoke in support of continuing the conversation to build a new cell phone tower in Palm Coast. The new tower, which has been vehemently opposed by residents, would help Palm Coast significantly improve cell phone reception. Both the effort to allow co-location of multiple carriers on one tower and building new cell towers are strategies the Chamber urges local officials to use to bring Palm Coast’s communications infrastructure more inline with modern times.
