Domestic Violence, a Deputy Spit On, and a Child Stabbed With Scissors: Flagler County’s Weekend in Review

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office made 22 arrests between 6 p.m. Friday, June 5, and 6 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026, handling 728 calls for service and conducting 112 traffic stops. Three incidents stood out from the weekend.

Neighbor’s Tip Leads to Domestic Violence Arrest

On Saturday afternoon, a concerned citizen helped deputies catch a Palm Coast man who fled the scene of a domestic disturbance.

At approximately 5 p.m., deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance on Wheeler Place in Palm Coast. While speaking with the victim — who had suffered multiple scratches — Carl Gray, 48, slipped out through the back door of the residence and ran.

While deputies searched the area, a resident on nearby Wheeldon Lane called 911 to report a man matching Gray’s description running through their yard. Deputies responded quickly and located Gray running down the road. After a brief foot chase, he was caught in the front yard of a nearby home.

“This guy thought that he could commit domestic violence and run away from his problems, but thanks to a citizen who ‘saw something and said something,’ he couldn’t get more than a couple of streets away,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Instead, he ended up out of breath, in handcuffs, and off to the Green Roof Inn.”

Gray was arrested for domestic battery and resisting arrest without violence. He is being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $3,500 bond.

Woman Being Transported for Mental Health Care Spits on Deputy

Saturday evening, an 18-year-old Palm Coast woman was arrested on a felony charge after spitting on a deputy while being transported to a mental health facility.

At approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a woman who was intoxicated and in distress. After an investigation, deputies determined that Autumn Bellows, 18, met the criteria for involuntary protective custody and began transporting her to a mental health facility.

During the ride, Bellows became combative in the back seat of the patrol vehicle — kicking, banging her head against the partition, and telling the deputy she had slipped out of her handcuffs. When deputies attempted to resecure her, Bellows spat on a deputy, with the spit landing on his face and hair. She also told deputies she was trying to go to jail and wanted to be criminally charged.

Deputies secured Bellows in handcuffs, a spit mask, and restraints. After being medically cleared at AdventHealth Palm Coast, she was transported to the detention facility.

“If you batter a deputy sheriff, including spitting on them, which is disgusting and disrespectful, I can guarantee you a trip to the Green Roof Inn,” said Sheriff Staly. “She wanted to go to jail, and she got her wish and earned herself a felony arrest.”

Bellows was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and was later released on a $2,500 bond.

Man Stabs Juvenile With Scissors During Domestic Incident; Immigration Hold Placed

Sunday evening, a Palm Coast man was arrested after stabbing a juvenile during a domestic altercation. Federal immigration authorities also placed a detainer on him following his arrest.

Just before 6 p.m., deputies responded to a stabbing at a residence in the R-Section of Palm Coast. The juvenile victim was found with a deep stab wound on his thigh and multiple cuts on his chest. He was transported to AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway for treatment.

Detectives from the Major Case Unit responded to assist with the investigation. When questioned, Devroy Miller, 27, initially tried to downplay the incident but eventually admitted the stabbing took place. He told detectives he did not know what happened to the scissors afterward. A search warrant was later served at the residence, where deputies found seven pairs of scissors — but Miller was unable to identify which pair was used.

“No matter what an argument is about, stabbing someone, especially a child, is absolutely never an acceptable response,” said Sheriff Staly. “It’s time for this guy to grow up!”

Miller was charged with aggravated child abuse and is being held without bond. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security determined Miller, a Jamaican national, is removable from the country. DHS placed an immigration detainer on him, and he is set to be deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the conclusion of his criminal case.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
