The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Flagler Beach man on February 2 following a seven-month joint investigation in which detectives determined he attempted to solicit a child through online messaging.
Cameron Terry, 23, was arrested after the FCSO Cyber Crimes/Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and the Northeast Florida Inter-Agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking Task Force completed their investigation into sexually explicit messages sent to a 14-year-old girl.
The investigation began in June 2025 when deputies responded to a reported sex offense involving Terry, who was 22 at the time, and the victim. A caller who knew the victim and had knowledge of the incident reported that Terry had been sending sexually explicit messages to the girl. The caller provided deputies with photographs of Snapchat messages sent between Terry and the victim.
During interviews, the victim told deputies she had met Terry while playing an online poker game with a friend. Days later, the victim’s friend told her that Terry had been stalking her on Snapchat. The victim said she added Terry on Snapchat to confront him, and he began sending her sexually explicit messages.
Deputies reviewed the messages and found that Terry asked the victim about her virginity, made graphic statements describing sexual acts he wanted to engage in with her, and requested pictures of her lifting her shirt. The victim told deputies that Terry was aware of her age because she had told him she was 14 on multiple occasions.
The victim also explained that when sending sexually explicit messages, Terry would change the chat settings in Snapchat so that his messages would be deleted immediately after they were viewed. She said Terry told her not to save the messages because he did not want “proof.”
During the investigation, detectives interviewed Terry, who confirmed the conversation where he asked the victim if she was a virgin and asked her to lift her shirt. He also confirmed that he knew the victim was 14 years old.
After detectives obtained a search warrant for Terry’s cellphones, the FCSO Digital Forensics Unit conducted a forensic examination of the devices. One device contained a deleted conversation on Snapchat between Terry and the victim, which supported the victim’s statement that Terry was actively deleting messages to hide evidence. The other device contained a deleted conversation on Discord between Terry and the victim.
On February 2, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Terry for solicitation of a child for unlawful sexual conduct using a computer service or device and unlawful use of a two-way communications device. Detectives and the FCSO Fugitive Unit attempted to serve the warrant at Terry’s residence, but he was not home. Terry’s father stated he would get his son to turn himself in. A few hours later, Terry turned himself in at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
“Our Cyber Crimes/ICAC Unit works hard with the INTERCEPT Task Force to investigate these cases and ensure that anyone targeting a child is put behind bars,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. “I commend the team on this investigation, and I also want to thank the third-party caller who was looking out for the victim and reported this activity on the victim’s behalf once they learned about it. I also thank the suspect’s father for having his son turn himself in. That’s a hard decision for a parent, but the father did the right thing.”

Terry was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and later released on a $60,000 bond.
FCSO is a member of NEFL INTERCEPT, a regional task force focused on combating child exploitation and human trafficking that the agency joined in April 2025. The multi-agency initiative operates in partnership with Operation Lightshine and includes investigators and analysts from agencies such as the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security Investigations.
