Flagler Schools announced its Teacher and Employee of the Year for 2025-2026 during the “Legacy By The Sea” ceremony held Monday night at the Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center.
Michelle Moore of Belle Terre Elementary School was named the District Teacher of the Year, and Calvin Grant of Flagler Palm Coast High School was named the District Employee of the Year. Both will represent Flagler Schools in the Florida Department of Education State Competition later this year.
Moore was selected from among 12 school-level Teacher of the Year finalists representing schools across the district. The other finalists were Hayley Marino from Bunnell Elementary School, Kathy Fisch from Buddy Taylor Middle School, Alex Giorgianna from Flagler Palm Coast High School, Adrienne Harvey from Flagler Technical College, Durand Brown from iFlagler, Shannon Russell from Indian Trails Middle School, Erin Davis from Matanzas High School, Tressa Landi from Old Kings Elementary School, Hayley Gurley from Rymfire Elementary School, Michelle Yorio from Student Services, and Emily Creel from Wadsworth Elementary School.
Grant was chosen from 17 Employee of the Year finalists from schools and district departments. The other finalists included Heather Morin from Human Resources, Tatiana Rodriguez from Custodial Services, Lance Lee from Food Services, Tami Chinn from Plant Services, Tammy Jones from Transportation, Mike Pane from Technology, Kathy McCoy from Bunnell Elementary School, Ashley Ramirez from Belle Terre Elementary School, Jeri Thayer from Buddy Taylor Middle School, Skyla Adao from Flagler Technical College, Taahira Lee from iFlagler, Claudia Karsten from Indian Trails Middle School, Paula Teixeira from Matanzas High School, Mary Jansen from Old Kings Elementary School, Nicole Castello from Rymfire Elementary School, and Abby Perez from Wadsworth Elementary School.
In 2025, Indian Trails Middle School teacher Brandy Anderson was a top-five finalist in the Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year competition.
The district also recognized Rookie Teachers of the Year, a category added by Flagler Schools to honor teachers who recently joined the district. This award is presented only at the school level.
The 2025-2026 Rookie Teachers of the Year are Amanda Gemmola from Bunnell Elementary School, Alyssa Langan from Belle Terre Elementary School, Shanyia Mobley from Buddy Taylor Middle School, Madison Mead from Flagler Palm Coast High School, Julia Williamson from iFlagler, Zhariah Haire from Indian Trails Middle School, Dr. Syed Hamid Mohammed from Matanzas High School, Mackenzie Fulling from Old Kings Elementary School, Michelle Lique from Rymfire Elementary School, and Kendall Mulligan from Wadsworth Elementary School.
