Flagler County Administrator Petito Honored with SMA Healthcare ‘Impact Award’

County Administrator Heidi Petito received an “Impact Award” from SMA Healthcare during the organization’s first Gala of Light on November 8, which recognized achievements in local behavioral healthcare.

“It was a surprise and an absolute honor to receive this first-of-its-kind award,” Petito said. “SMA and the county have had a fruitful public-private partnership as evidenced by the milestone groundbreaking on Tuesday (November 18) for a future crisis stabilization unit and men’s residential unit.”

The award recognized Petito’s support of SMA Healthcare and her involvement in expanding its integrated stabilization unit. She was acknowledged for her concern for Flagler County residents’ well-being and her belief that access to behavioral healthcare is essential for a thriving community.

Flagler County obtained $10 million in state legislative funding for the project, with SMA Healthcare adding an additional $4 million. The new facilities will address the current need for county residents to travel outside the area for detox programs or crisis intervention services.

Petito serves as a board member for SMA Healthcare.
