On Monday, August 4, the City of Palm Coast began construction on the Whiteview Parkway Improvement Project, which aims to improve roadway safety and stormwater infrastructure along this key corridor.
Crews began by temporarily closing the outside eastbound lane between U.S. 1 and just past White Mill Drive. This closure allows teams to complete surveying and begin clearing the area in preparation for the next phase of work. Over the next several weeks, the project will move eastward. Once work moves beyond the four-lane section, flaggers will help guide traffic. These flagging operations will take place Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Beginning Monday, August 11, the eastbound lane will be closed for an extended period to allow for the safe installation of a new storm drain system along the south side of the roadway. The system will be installed at a depth of 5 to 7 feet. Before installation, crews will remove approximately 7.5 feet of the existing lane and base material.
Work will continue Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional night work if needed to keep the project on schedule.
Drivers should expect minor delays due to lane closures, flagging, and the delivery of construction materials. Electronic message boards along Whiteview Parkway will remain active with updated information to help guide drivers safely through the area.
The City of Palm Coast encourages all motorists to drive with caution, follow posted signs, and stay alert for workers. These improvements are necessary to support long-term safety and reliability on one of our city’s most traveled roads.
