Flagler County Sheriff’s Holiday Weekend Roundup: July 4-6

By-Line: Joseph Bober, Public Information Office, FCSO

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 25 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, and 6 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025. With an increased presence throughout the long weekend, deputies handled 1,377 calls for service and made 294 traffic stops.  In addition, deputies, Florida Highway Patrol troopers and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers investigated multiple serious vehicle and boat crashes.

Proactive Patrol Leads to Narcotics Arrest

On Saturday morning, deputies on proactive patrol along U.S. Highway 1 in Bunnell conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with illegal window tint.

During the stop, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Robert Porn, 60, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, told deputies that he did not have a driver’s license, nor had he ever had a driver’s license. Deputies then asked Porn, as well as four other passengers, to exit the vehicle.

As Porn was exiting the vehicle, a deputy noticed him remove a napkin from his pocket and drop it inside the vehicle. Deputies retrieved the napkin, which they found to contain a small plastic bag with methamphetamine. During a search of the vehicle, deputies also located a second bag of methamphetamine, as well as a pipe with burnt narcotics residue.

Deputies arrested Porn for possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

“First off, this guy should not have been driving if he did not have a license,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “But not only that, he had drugs and tried to fool our deputies thinking they wouldn’t notice him trying to get rid of his meth. He learned the hard way that our deputies are very observant. He earned himself a stay at the Green Roof Inn for the holiday weekend.”

Porn was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $4,500 bond.

Man Caught Throwing Marijuana Out Window While Fleeing from Deputies

On Saturday night, deputies attempted a traffic stop on Seminole Woods Parkway in Palm Coast on a vehicle for avoiding a traffic control device. Although deputies activated their lights and sirens, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Jarvis Warren, 48, of Flagler Beach, did not initially comply and pull over; instead, he slowed down as if he was going to pull over multiple times, only to then accelerate once deputies behind him slowed down as well.

While deputies followed Warren as he turned into a U-Section neighborhood, they noticed him throw a yellow plastic bag out the window. Deputies later recovered the bag, which contained marijuana.

Warren finally came to a stop at a house on Underwick Path, and deputies secured him as soon as he exited the vehicle. Deputies arrested Warren for fleeing and eluding law enforcement with lights and sirens activated, tampering with evidence, and possession of marijuana.

“This guy took a possible misdemeanor marijuana offense and turned it into felony charges,” said Sheriff Staly. “Here’s another guy that thought he could get rid of his drugs in a bright yellow bag and without our deputies noticing, but again our deputies caught it, and he went to the Green Roof Inn.”
