On Sept. 4, the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) honored 41 graduates from the prestigious FSA Commanders Academy. Among the graduates was Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Commander Rob Tarczewski.

The Commanders Academy is an exceptionally informative and educational experience focused on the unique needs of the Office of Sheriff that is vital for the next generation of public safety leaders. The academy has become recognized as the premier course of executive study for mid-to-upper-level leadership within Florida sheriffs’ offices.
Leaders throughout Florida sheriffs’ offices participated in a variety of curriculums focusing on leadership, ethics, discipline, and additional subject matter areas related to upper-level leadership in a Florida Sheriff’s Office. The remaining curriculum is adjusted according to emerging trends and issues that have an impact on Florida sheriffs’ offices and recent high-profile events.
“Commander Tarczewski’s dedication to our community and commitment to professional development are commendable,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “The Florida Sheriffs Association’s Commanders Academy provides exceptional leadership training. We are proud of Commander Tarczewski for successfully completing this demanding program and look forward to seeing him apply the skills and knowledge he gained to continue strengthening our agency’s leadership team and serving our community.”
Commander Rob Tarczewski began his law enforcement career with FCSO in January 2011. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2021 while assigned to FCSO’s K9 Unit. In 2024, he was promoted to commander in FCSO’s Community Policing Division and currently serves as a Watch Commander. Since joining our agency, he has received multiple commendations and awards.
“Attending the Florida Sheriffs Association Commanders Academy was a great leadership opportunity, and it was an honor to be selected as a representative of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Growth is not achieved by a sole source. I appreciate my time spent with representatives from fellow Florida sheriffs’ offices and look forward to returning home to work alongside the excellent men and women of the FCSO.”
In addition to completing this two-week training course, Commanders Academy Class 19 also raised $67,767.28 for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. This generous donation will help support the mission of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches in preventing delinquency and developing lawful, resilient and productive citizens.
