Former School Board Member and 28-Year Teacher Clears Petition Hurdle for District 1 Race

Jill Woolbright’s candidate petitions have been officially certified by the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections, confirming she has met the signature threshold to qualify for the ballot in the Flagler County School Board District 1 race.

Jill Woolbright announced that her candidate petitions for the Flagler County School Board District 1 seat have been officially certified by the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections. The certification confirms that Woolbright collected enough signatures to meet the required threshold and move to the next phase of the election process. Woolbright served on the Flagler County School Board from 2020 to 2022 and spent 28 years as a teacher within the district before entering the current race.

Woolbright’s response to the certification

“I am deeply grateful to the residents of Flagler County who took the time to sign my petition and support this campaign. This milestone reflects not just qualification, but a shared commitment to the future of our students, our teachers, and our schools.”

Campaign priorities

With the petition stage complete, Woolbright said her campaign will focus on meeting with families, educators, and community members across the district. She outlined four main priorities: strengthening academic outcomes, supporting and retaining quality teachers, maintaining safe and effective learning environments, and keeping communication open and transparent between the school district and the broader community.

“Having spent nearly three decades in the classroom and having served on the school board, I understand both the challenges and the opportunities within our school system. I am committed to bringing experienced, steady leadership that prioritizes student success, supports our teachers, and ensures responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.”

Woolbright also addressed the county’s growth and what she says it means for planning ahead.

“As our county continues to grow, it is critical that we plan wisely for the future while maintaining the high standards our families expect. I look forward to continuing conversations throughout the community and earning the trust and support of voters.”

The District 1 School Board race also includes Cathy Moon, who announced her own petition certification earlier this spring. No election date was specified in Woolbright’s announcement.
