Northeast Florida Pickleball Teams Win 10 Gold and 10 Silver Medals at State Tournament

The Northeast Florida Team Pickleball League sent 22 teams to the Florida State Team Pickleball Tournament held April 17 through 19 at Pictona at Holly Hill. The three-day event brought together top teams from across the state, with each team having earned its invitation by winning a regional tournament earlier in the season. The regional qualifying format also required matching divisions from other parts of Florida to be represented before a bracket could be formed, ensuring competitive balance throughout the field.

How Northeast Florida performed

Of the 22 teams that traveled to compete, 10 captured gold medals in their respective divisions and 10 more earned silver medals — meaning 20 of the 22 teams finished in the top two in their brackets. The competition spanned men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles divisions, with skill ratings and age groups creating separate competitive categories throughout the event.

Gold medal winners by division

In men’s doubles, three Northeast Florida teams took gold: the Fireballs in the 3.5 14-and-over division, the Vipers in the 4.0 14-and-over division, and Them DTP Boyz in the 4.5 14-and-over division. In women’s doubles, The Looney Tunes won gold in the 3.0 50-and-over division and the LOBstirs took gold in the 3.0 65-and-over division. Mixed doubles produced the most gold for the region, with Next! Hit Squad winning the 3.0 14-and-over division, The Bench Warmers claiming gold in the 3.5 14-and-over division, Dinking Under the Influence winning the 3.5 50-and-over division, A-Team Summa capturing gold in the 4.0 14-and-over division, and Dink Responsibly winning the 4.5 14-and-over division.

What comes next

All 10 gold medal teams have earned an invitation to compete at the American Team Pickleball League National Tournament this fall, where they will represent Northeast Florida against top teams from across the country. The silver medal teams’ next steps were not specified in the league’s announcement. The Northeast Florida Team Pickleball League said it celebrates all 22 teams that competed and views the tournament results as a reflection of the quality of competition developed throughout the region’s regular season.
