Local Leaders Unite to Bring Holiday Cheer to More Than 85 Seniors in Palm Coast

Community leaders in Palm Coast came together this holiday season to ensure seniors at Gold Choice of Palm Coast Senior Assisted Living did not feel forgotten. The initiative brought warmth and holiday cheer to more than 85 residents through an Adopt a Senior program that invited the public to participate.

The effort was organized through a collaboration of local community partners who placed trees with Adopt a Senior tags throughout the community, making it easy for residents to get involved. The trees were located at Parkside Realty, Lotus Funeral Services, and Junque in the Trunk, where community members could select a senior to adopt for the holidays.

The initiative was led by Kathleen Rivera of Right at Home of Palm Coast, Deborah Ronson of Parkside Realty, Cathy Horrocks of Better Homes and Gardens, Shara Brodsky of Sift and Sort, and Nina Guiglotto of Lotus Funeral Services.

The organizers spoke about the meaning behind the project. “For many seniors, the holidays can be an especially quiet and lonely time,” shared the organizers. “This project was about more than gifts, it was about restoring connection, dignity, and joy. Seeing the smiles, the tears, and the gratitude reminded us why community matters.”

Neighbors, local businesses, and supporters responded to the call for participation, coming together to ensure every resident felt the warmth of the season. Gifts ranged from practical necessities to personal surprises, with each item chosen intentionally and wrapped with care.

The organizers said the Adopt a Senior program highlighted the power of human connection and the importance of honoring those who have contributed to the community throughout their lives. They expressed hope that the effort will inspire continued acts of kindness not only during the holidays but throughout the year.

Those interested in supporting future initiatives benefiting local seniors are encouraged to contact any of the participating organizations for more information.
