Local chapter marks milestone anniversary with exhibition and awards ceremony
The Colored Pencil Society of America’s Palm Coast Chapter (CPSA-117) celebrated its 20th anniversary on Sunday, September 21st, with a well-attended exhibition and awards reception at Expressions Art Gallery on Colbert, inside Grand Living Realty.
The milestone event showcased the talents of the chapter’s 54 members, who hail from Florida and other states. CPSA-117 Palm Coast is part of the international Colored Pencil Society of America, a professional artist organization with nearly 3,000 members worldwide. The society provides exhibitions, workshops, and product research and development to support colored pencil artists.
Founded two decades ago by local artists and art teachers Hanneke Jevons and Bill Shoemaker, the Palm Coast chapter has grown into a thriving community of colored pencil enthusiasts dedicated to advancing the medium.
At the opening reception, awards were presented to seven outstanding artists: Pat Lentine of New Smyrna Beach, Julie Karner of Palm Coast, Nancy Jacey of Virginia, Priscilla Humay of Palm Coast, Liz Monaco of St. Augustine, Beth Wong of St. Augustine, and Linda Bishop of Ormond Beach. The juror for the exhibition was Sydney McKenna, a St. Augustine artist widely recognized for her paintings.
The anniversary exhibition remains on view at Expressions Art Gallery through November 1st. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
