The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed September as “Preparedness Month” to acknowledge the county’s susceptibility to natural disasters and human-caused emergencies and reaffirm its commitment to preparing the community.

“The more our residents and businesses are prepared, the faster our community will recover from the disaster or emergency at hand,” said Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord. “The result of a quick recovery has a profoundly positive impact of the quality of life in Flagler County. Also, our well-prepared community members can be ‘preparedness ambassadors’ for their neighbors by doing things like sharing their preparedness plans and encouraging friends, coworkers, and family to be prepared, too.”

To tie in with the proclamation, Emergency Management is introducing a monthly Community Preparedness Workshop – the same each month – that will provide general preparedness information, practical tips, and strategies to keep households safe and ready for emergencies. For more information and to register, go to www.FlaglerCounty.gov/emergency and click on “Community Training,” or call 386-313-4200.
