Today, October 7th, 2023, The Flagler County Fire Rescue Department and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office held their annual chili cook off competition. Creekside attendees were invited to taste the chili’s and cast their votes by dropping a token into the boot of their choice. The voting period lasted from 12pm to 2:30pm.
Shortly after 2:30 pm, it was announced that the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) won with 237 votes while the Flagler County Fire Rescue got 163 votes.
During the voting process firefighters and deputies could be seen and heard taunting each other in a good natured and friendly battle of the chili’s. Fire Chief Mike Tucker and Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly both took part in the fun of the competition.
While the chili cook-off has officially ended, the festivities have not. The event opened at 10am today and will continue until 4pm tomorrow, October 8th.
Over 30 food vendors, and over 80 business and craft vendors have set up their booths for attendees to browse through. Other features like a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, and even a magic show were among the festivities available to guests.
Portions of the proceeds of this event will be benefiting Flagler Humane Society and the Family Life Center.
