Today, July 29th, 2023, Vincent’s Clubhouse founder and president Erica Flores, her husband, and volunteers held their annual awards ceremony for their summer camp attendees. Children of all ages were presented with certificates and trophies for completing their summer camp classes.
Vincent’s Clubhouse Summer camp is a camp geared towards children with Autism and other special needs. This is the only summer camp in Flagler County for children with special needs and disabilities. This camp lasts a week, and is put on every single year by Vincent’s Clubhouse. Vincent’s Clubhouse is a 501-c3 organization that is geared towards helping children with disabilities as well as helping the families of those children by providing resources, support groups, outings and other activities.
The awards ceremony for the summer camp was held in the Wadsworth Elementary school cafeteria. Parents and grandparents of the summer camp attendees sat and cheered the kids on as they came up to the stage to get their certificates and their awards. Camp volunteers were also recognized for their service to helping make this years camp one of the biggest and most successful camps yet. The teen volunteers were also recognized for their help and service at the camp. These teens and middle school students volunteered their time at the camp to help make it a fun and enjoyable camp for the children.
Vincent’s Clubhouse founder and president Erica Flores also recognized members of Next Home at the Beach, who have sponsored this summer camp for two years in a row. Next Home at the Beach donated over $8,000 this year from the Luke Day event to make this years camp possible.
Chick-Fil-a was also there with a lunch buffet for the children, parents, grandparents and volunteers of the summer camp. Also in attendance was Interim Superintendent Lakisha Moore, and Chair of the School Board Cheryl Massaro.
We asked Chair Massaro how excited she was to have Vincent’s Clubhouse Summer Camp here at Buddy Taylor and Wadsworth Elementary school, “This is a special event for a special group of kids and special families provided by an unbelievable staff. I’m always excited to participate in today’s Vincent Clubhouse awards.”
We also talked to founder and president Erica Flores, “Flagler Schools was very gracious to let us rent the facilities from them to be able to have enough space. This is actually out of all the camps since 2017, this is our largest camp we have had; 32 campers and five junior camp counselors, high school students, who have dedicated their time to get community service hours to spend with our kids. It’s the largest camp, it’s the most diverse camp that we have had as far as ages, our youngest age was five and our oldest was 23; so we have had quite a diverse group with lots of different talents, lots of different backgrounds and we are just so grateful for this particular camp this year. It’s been phenomenal.”
